Default Window switch question

So the driver switch control operates the passenger door window just fine, but the switch at the passenger door wouldn't let enough power to operate it. Since I had a spare I installed it for the passenger side and it will somewhat lower the window but doesn't let enough power to roll it back up. Anyone else deal with that?

I've had a busted passenger window switch that I switched out for a working one and did not have a problem. Perhaps your spare has the same problem as the original. Can you test on another door and make sure the spare switch works?

over time these switches will oxidize and you can open them up and scratch the contacts and they will go to working again

The passenger side ones would be a pain to open up, driver one looks easy, though I'm surprised it has electronics in it since I did remove the very bottom cover.

Sometimes the switch itself is failed having the oxidized contacts and sometimes the electronics components are failed. The first step may be to clean the contacts. If it doesn't improve the situation, you should find the failed components and replace them or simply replace the whole unit. But judging from the age of the car, many used units are not in good conditions any more. I'd simply fix the unit using my equipments and my skill.

Fixing different electronics units myself as a hobby, I found that following parts or items are the often cases to fail.
1, Electrolytic capacitors.
2, Soldering crack.
3, Burnt resistor or increased resistance
4, Internally short circuited ceramic capacitor
5, Failed semiconductor
6, Open inductor

Now local shop owners ask me to help very often and I'm getting busier. If I were charging them, I'd be a rich guy.

Just wondering what kind of proprietary IC's they have in them? That is always a huge road block in trying to fix some electronics items. I once worked at a place that had their circuit boards made out of house with lots of surface mount components. But many components were not there as well as the special IC's so as to not give away the company secrets. After final assembly at the home factory, the whole board was covered with a special white goo that hardened, and if something when out, the whole board was just thrown out. It was impossible to remove the goo and not damage the traces and components. Just more stuff to keep it all secret from prying eyes.
