What is this?!??
Hey guys, I need major help from y'all. This is my first time posting so if this is in the wrong place please do tell me.
I've been working on replacing my engine on a 99 ls400 for a few days now and in the process I came across this solenoid with some piping come out on the replacement engine. Was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction and tell me if this is okay to delete because the old one does not have it. I can't place my ac compressor in until I find out if this is necessary.
What in the world is this solenoid?
Oh forgot to mention that the new motor is a jdm replacement.
Thanks for any help in advance!

At first glance I believe this is part of the hydraulic fan circuit. This is not present on USDM models as they have a clutch fan arrangement instead. You would replace the entire hydraulic fan circuit on the "new" engine with the bracket and clutch fan assembly from your USDM engine.
If Yamae (Japan-based member) can chime in it may be of some more help.

Your photo shows a part of the hydraulic pump motor and the control solenoid for a cooling fan installed in a JDM Celsior. It is driven by the drive belt.
I don't know much about the deletion but the only thing I can say is that driving it without the oil will cause a serious problem.

Thanks for that info. I do have one more question if you can answer for that would be great. Do you know of any engine harness conversion out there from jdm to usdm? Or if there is anything I can do to swap the harness over? Thanks again.

The only downfall is that the way everything is set up on the back of the engine is that the molding from the usdm harness doesn't sit properly on the replacement. It sits completely opposite of the jdm one. 😫
