Default 1996 LS400: Engine Fan spinning too freely ?

Good day fellow members,
Im curious with regards to;

1) What is the optimal running temperature of these 1996 LS400s ? My guess : Half temperature

2) the tension of my Engine Fan in the sense that when the vehicle is off, it can be easily spun with not much effort by hand. Is this normal ? Because on my dad's truck Mitsubishi Canter 3.0 engine, the engine fan is stiff to move.

3)Also, what type of fluid should I put in the Engine Fan Oil reservoir in my 1996 LS400?

mine stays about 45% on the gauge, right where it should be

you need a new fan clutch - this will also have the added benefit of making your A/C super cold like new!

Get this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Aisin-FCT-014-Engine-Cooling-Clutch/dp/B00829HBPS http://www.amazon.com/Aisin-FCT-014-Engine-Cooling-Clutch/dp/B00829HBPS

If you order it from a dealership you will pay twice as much for the exact same part, brand and everything.

I never said that! - you do put dex/merc in the reservoir shown in his photo though.

a fan fluid reservoir is rare, but seen on some Lexus models, such as the '92 SC400 I was recently working on!

and as an A/C specialist for 30 years and previous owner of the largest auto A/C shop in Arizona, this cowboy knows fan clutches!

The bottles are new and filled with silicone, so its transparent. Everything I do on my car, I seek the advice of the more experienced lexus owners/ mechanics on this forum before-hand.

Thanks Cowboy...I will purchase this for the Engine Fan Reservoir.. As for the silicone, I believe my fan clutch requires it due to spinning soo freely and even continues to spin when the vehicle is switched off, consequently will proceed to change the silicone in my fan clutch
