Default Seeping oil pan.

Well, it looks like I found the source of a slow leak I am having. Is this a common problem? Only 72K on my 99. Maybe the constant heat of Puerto Rico helped the gaskets demise. Anything to look at when I have it done?

I'm pretty sure the tropical climate put my car in a unique environment over the last 13 years. All the rubber is ready to replaced. Suspension mostly and a few mounts. I did get 8 years of history from the Lexus dealer, which is nice. It did have some seal done at the transmission five years ago. I don't think it was the pan but I don't remember off the top of my head.

Lexus of San Juan, only dealer in PR, was ripping Citi Bank Financial a new one. My car was their presidents personal company car. Apparently, he traveled all the time and that explains the low mileage. Now get this. From suspension related minor problems, to a few seals, oil changes, power-steering fix, tires, and a few other little things but nothing major. Just the records I have totaled nearly $11,000 OK, too boot. Puerto Rico is about 30% more expensive for new cars. Excise tax. Military and non-profit are exempt but 90% are not. I found out that Citibank paid $82,000.00 for the car in 1999 from the original marbete. Similar to the registration. I guess this makes sense. The LS 460 is $110k right now. They even have an unsold 2010 sitting there for 92k.. It's just ridiculous.

Anyway, just kind of interesting history. I know Citi had to spend close to $100,000 till the time they were absorbed by Banco Popular and sold the car. I got it for $8,000 which, is 1k below black-book. Body and paint need a little love but not much. So did my car depreciate $92,000 in 13 years? haha Got to love Puerto Rico.

Looks like the seal at the oil pan is just beginning to leak up top on one side. Thank God it's not the main seal. So slow that it takes 3,000 miles for it to start showing but now at least I know where it is coming from after being told I needed $2,000 in work done to my power-steering by the dealer. Believe it or not I did have the dealer do a few things to my car because I negotiated with them and got the market price. But I honestly think my 99 qualifies for being one of the most expensive ones sold due to my market. Totally ridiculous.

What a great car. I just love driving it!
