I thought about that but the owner only has 10k coverage and after the taxes and the tow charges we are pushing $9800. I could go after the owner but don't think he has much to be honest and it wouldn't be worth my time to fight over a few hundred more bucks to be honest.

yea to be clear. the price they give you for your car is a NEGOTIATION. you can just say, i disagree with your offer and do no accept. its best to ask em where they got their price from etc etc. And provide them some proof of cars that are "similar" to raise their averages.

atleast you got 9k. My 2000 Ls was in a wreck 2 months ago and because i had 268k miles on it I got 4500 for it even after fighting with my insurance for 3 weeks. i chose my company instead of the other persons because her insurance was completely out of their minds! insurance companies can be real a**holes sometimes.

As of last year when my car suffered about $4,000 in damage from flying road debries, the insurance value of my 2000 LS400 (I also have State Farm Insurance) was more than $15,000. I don't know the condition of your 99 LS - my 2000 LS is like new - but $9,000 as an insurance settlement still seems quite low.

Kansas what was the mileage on your Ls at that time? I consider my 2000 Ls to be like new because i take of it and the engine runs the same since my father drove it out the lexus lot. And $15,000 is really good i'm starting to feel that I should switch insurance companies.
The service writer was clear that the insurance value was based the car's unusual condition and optional equipment and that he gave it the highest rating. Even the chrome wheels are still flawless - they haven't seen a single winter.
