Accelerator pedal postion sensor part for 98?
Ok over the last month my 98 has had 3 issues where the service engine light would come on and the VSC warning. So today it happened. It will not drive or accelerate. If you let it sit for 5 minutes it will drive fine. So I took to autozone and the error code was p1120 and p1121. We went in side the guy sait it was the accelerator pedal position sesnor. The part was $119.99. So I called Lexus dealership and they said I need part # 22060-50010 and it was $563.81. I was like well that is a big difference. I just want to get the correct part at the best price. Does anyone know the correct part for a 98 LS400?

Definitely look int this and try to further diagnose the problem. Mine was throwing VSC last year, i carry my code reader in the car and would just clear it. Searched and its rumored to be tied to battery as well. I charged my battery and it was still being thrown. i wiped down everything in the drivers foot well, hoping it was just a dirty censor. Nothing changed. Then cleaned the throttle body. Then realized that the power wire for my amp went through the fire wall and under the dash. It was laying over the bracket that held the APP. I pushed up on the censor and have not seen the VSC since. My guess is the weight of the power over time pushed the censor down enough to give an incorrect reading. just glad i didn't spend 200-500 for a new one, that would have done the same thing.

The part number shown on my invoice of a couple years back shows 22060-50011 as the part number for the PPS/Accelerator Pedal Sensor but it's looking as if the part is under two part numbers. Mine cost $343 but I got an OEM part. Toyota Land Cruisers of the same era, among various vehicles made by Toyota, used the same part.
You've got an accurate diagnosis -- same answer as I gave you when you asked the same question on 12/11/2011. Cleaning the throttle body isn't going to fix this. Bite the bullet, buy the part and fix it.

After erasing the code, the car ran good. But I know that the ECU threw the code detecting the abnormal voltage for more than 2 seconds and there sure exists the problem. In order to duplicate the problem, I used a hair dryer and a small hammer to stress the accelerator pedal position sensor. But nothing happened. I waited 30 minutes to cool down the sensor and the throttle body. Then I sprayed the parts cleaner aiming to cool down them more. I resumed to warm up the sensor but this time, I used a heat gun instead of a hair dryer. I also hit the sensor using a middle sized hammer to give a mechanical stress more. This time the VSC warning light turned ON and the problem was duplicated.
It's time to replace the accelerator pedal position sensor for me but I was amazed that it's rather expensive. As I search the NET, I found this.
Unfortunately a 1UZ-FE VVT-i engine uses the sensor which has a thick plastic housing and it's not easy to see inside as the Youtube video shows.
I wondered how can I fix the problem? Then I had an idea. The detail was written below although it's in Japanese.

Simply to summarize the contents, I just used a copper tape and a 200W max soldering iron to re-solder the cracked soldering points without braking the housing. All I needed was to heat up pins spending about a minute each.
After the re-soldering , the problem does not duplicate anymore even when badly stressed. The car runs good too. Probably I need to check some more but I think the problem was fixed. If so, the money for the sensor can be used to buy nice wines and I can enjoy the nice cool season. How do you like that?
