Steering wheel horn cover
OK Folks. I have some blemishes on the steering wheel's horn cover. I tried painting it with Vinyl Pro's products. It was a close match, but not exact.
So my steering wheel doesn't look as good as I'd like. Is it possible to change out the steering / horn cover??? Costs. Who could do this? The dealer? A body shop?
Thanks for the input

From what I understand, the piece you are talking about is attached to the airbag assembly and therefore cannot so simply be replaced.
I was asking the same question a few months ago as I was planning on swapping the same part you're talking about from a Toyota Celsior to complete the re-Toyotafication of my LS. But if I recall correctly, you'll have to change the entire assembly, airbag and all.

I just replaced this assembly on my car (1990 LS400). It is the airbag unit itself (which presses on a bracket for the horn). It was extremely simple to replace... disconnect the battery, wait, pop off the two covers on the side of the steering wheel, unscrew 4 torx screws, disconnect airbag wire, install new unit and then reverse the steps.
I had a minor blemish on my original cover. The total cost to replace was about $35 including shipping. Check ebay periodically, depending on your year/color, there are many airbag units for sale. Good luck!

I'll try and post a picture later. If I have to replace the whole airbag assembly I imagine that's more than I'd want to spend. My "Plan B" is to see if a body shop can remove it and spray it in a booth. Then "exact" color will be less of an issue

SEM did now match mine perfectly. The mismatch is obvious. I don;t blame them. These are 12 yr old cars. Things fade, etc. I will look on ebay , that's a great suggestion if it's that cheap!
