i recently noticed that while im driving the console where the shifter is located is really hot. would anyone know why this would be happening? could this be the begining of transmission failure? or is this something that is common? any info on this subject is greatly appreciated.

the vehicle that im speaking of is a 92 ls400. sorry for leaving that info out the first time

Are all of your exhaust shields in place? If so, maybe check at night to see if either of the CAT's are glowing after taking a good run with the car to get it warmed up. Maybe the start of a clogged CAT...
