i have noticed a lot of heat coming up from shifter, and chap-stick in ashtray was melted in 92 sc 400. pretty much on drivers side. does anyone else have this adnormality? seems like it is too much.

 

Its not an abnormality...very typical. Keep in mind your transmission is sitting right underneath there and puts off a lot of heat and that heat will transfer to the floor pans into the shifter and everything else sitting above it.

 

in the winter you wont have this problem but summer dont put chap stick in the center consol or in the ashtray

 

You shouldn't need chapstick in the summer, anyway...
