90K Maintenance Ebay kits ok to purchase? 98 LS400
Hi everyone, I have a 98 LS400 and I would like to know if anyone here has purchased these 90K maintenance kits off Ebay before or if you think it's ok to purchase?
I have a friend that can do the work but I'm looking to buy the parts to save money.
Here is one I'm eyeing

I did a quick price check on the Lexus of Roseville site and the parts listed in the eBay item description come to less than $280. They seem to have a 10% off deal every month so that drops the price down to about $250 for Lexus OEM parts. You'll have to add shipping, of course, but I suspect that UPS Ground shipping would run less than $50.
I've placed several orders for parts using that site and have been pleased with the service. Alternately, if you have the part numbers, your local Toyota dealer can order them for you at a lower price than your local Lexus dealer charges. The price will be higher than at the site referenced above. You may be able to find other Lexus dealers with online ordering offering similar prices.

Its definitely a 90K service for a reason...you only have to do it every 90K!!....Do it right, get everything from LEXUS!! I spent about $1150 for my 90K service, that was actually kinda overdue, cause I had it done at 126K. But I have that peace of mind. Its not worth going to ebay for that 200-300 dollars in savings. and like mentioned before, your lexus will DEFINITELY love you

I also spent about $800 for all OEM parts on my timing belt/water pump change in parts, replacing everything I could get my hands on, including thermostat, ignition components and brake pads and front rotors.
Also, for sparkplugs NGK iridiums are comparable to the OEM densos.
'93, btw. Your '98 is interference, so definitely go OEM.

If you truly believe that the water pump on your vehicle is made by Toyota employees in Toyota City Japan then I guess that is your best option.
Not reality but if it helps you sleep, fine with me.

Then again if paying the extra money gives you extra confidence in the reliability of the part, then more power to you.
I personally would have no problem buying non-Toyota/Lexus parts as long as they come from an OEM spec supplier. My $0.02
