Default Power Steering Issues - Yes, I've read the Bible

Ok, so I've read the 1st gen power steering bible above, however I just had a few questions.

I replaced the acv/icv Wednesday, and ever since then the car hasn't been running right.

Before, I had a small leak and would occasionally fill it with fluid and duck into my car to hide from the white smoke it left during start up.

Now with the plug installed, it's as if nothing works at all. Meaning, I basically have no PS when the car is parked (when you need it the most), but only at high speeds, say 50+.

My question is this, what's the main purpose of this acv/icv? My understanding it is bumps the revs up/down while at a stand still to ensure you're getting proper pressure from the PS pump? Am I right or wrong?

Ok, with this in mind, would raising the idle of the car stop this problem I'm having, or would it have to be adjusted way to high for this to work?

I'm running out of ideas and becoming very frustrated trying to turn this huge boat at slow to no speed at all.

I suppose I am going to start preparing for the other mods listed in the bible, unless you guys have any other alternatives??

Thanks in advance guys!

What did you do with the Vacuum hose that is no longer active headed to the ICV?

The one going to the plastic intake pipe is capped off, so is the other.

Make sure the power steering belt is tight. Usually when their loose, they will squeal. I did this mod and could feel no difference in the steering. It works great. As far as the car running properly, make sure the vacuum lines are capped properly. Replace them if they are cracked. Also check any other vacuum lines going into the manifold.

Plugging that valve won't kill your PAS. What will kill it is air in the system and it is especially difficult to get it out on these cars.

This was my thought as well. I guess a buddy and I are going to tackle it later on this upcoming week and see if we can't flush the system and get the air out. Might as well clean the filter as well...
