Default hid replacement bulbs for 1998 LS400

can any one imform me about the replacement hid bulbs for the 98 LS400. i had a fender bender this summer and the headlight assembly had to be replaced and the bulb also. about 3 months after repairs the light turned pink and blew out,but before then it didnt match the original bulb of the of the car ,the original was a sort of a blueish color and the new one looks like a standard light, after takeing the bulbs out and comparing the part number, they were the same (old and new),after noticing the headlight that was to replace the bulb that was replaced it still doesnt shine as bright as the original bulb in the other side,so we switched the bulbs around to see if it was just that side of the car having problems and the old one( original)still shined the brightess on the opposite side. after that he put in some hd4's 51 watt from the 2005 LS430 and they was as close to the original that we had gotten so far,my bulb is 35watts form the factory and so were other replacments. so can anyone shed some light on this because i have presented this to two lexus technitions and they cant figue it out.

Apologize if this reply came to you very late but it seems to me either a short somewhere or the ballast needs replacement. The bulbs has nothing to to do with the coloration really. Its the output of the ballast that feeds into the bulbs that gives it the color that your describing.. 6k would be a bright white and the color your describing seems like an 8k or maybe 10k. But the big question remains, was your factory HID or halogen? Cause your tech should have used D2R bulbs and have the ballast checked out instead of testing the water with some HD4.

if the bulbs that were put into the car were new, it shouldn't have any problems or turn pink just after 3 months. sounds to me like you have a ballast problem. maybe a defective ballast?

switch ballasts on both sides and see if the problem is the same.
