For what reason does an LS owner drive his/her car?
my father finally got the car he's been wanting ever since 1990: An LS 400.
It's a 1995 LS 400 and was purchased by a company to allow the CEO to drive around in and be driven in. Its service record is flawless. any work that could be done on it had/has been done. It has 147,000 miles. The interior is in imaculate condition. He beams with pride driving it.....but I don't need to tell you guys this.
My point of reference for this question is that I drive a nicely lowered black and tan naturally aspirated Miata with R compound tires as my daily driver. (Kuhmo Victoracers for Deals Gap and RA-1's for the everyday street driving) I go to Deal's Gap at least three times a year and to the North Ga. Mountains even more frequently. I drive to experience my car's abilities first hand......cornering very hard, braking hard, and the ocassional drift.
Sometimes, I'll just drive, not to go anywhere at all, but for the simple act of shifting, turning, and motoring in general.
My father drives his car and feels like "he's driving the living room". He loves the impecable quality built into the lexus.....as i've said, he's been following it for years and loves how they offer more for much less compared to BMW and Merc.
His driving is leisurely and slow paced with the XM Radio blarring Tony Bennet or Sarah Vaughn while he sits and admires the ride quality, insulation and very good sound system.
I pose this question to you.....
How do you [LS owners] drive your cars? (where do you go, what aspects of it do you enjoy most when driving it....etc).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where I go, there lives a Dragon 11 miles long. He will bite the unwary and destroy the egotistical.
He is my friend and when you meet him.....you'll find me there.....waiting.

I drive my LS hard as I do my modified GS, but I start to chicken out in the turns when the roll starts and the tires squeal. There are some with modified LS's but not nearly as many as stock and the parts aren't as prevelant.... the LS is a stately cruiser and a superb highway car. I prefer it for long trips vs my GS with coilovers and suspension stuff.
Having said that, I am not often tempted to take the LS to Lexus club meetings, especially one annual trip (that you seem to be familiar with )... the GS goes on that.... www.lexusdragon.com

I like the ride, quality and safety of my 1990 LS400. Despite the 226K miles, it still runs excellent, with NO squeaks or rattles. These are extremely high quality cars.
Your father should get another good 200K miles from his 95 LS400, if he keeps it properly maintained.
By the way- welcome to the club.

I like the quality, reliability, and luxury of my 98 LS400. The ride is fine but a bit too soft for my taste. I wish I can keep the car for a while, but I am only 35 and look like I am driving my father's car. I might get something more sporty later on..

3 words sum it up for me: modern magic carpet.
Compared to the the Miata and the Forester, my LS, despite its age, glides on the highways, it is reasonably quick, quiet, luxurius and surprisingly maneuverable. It is also more fuel efficient than the Forester, but then again, I enjoy the takeoff acceleration of the XT, so I use it often, as a result the XT brings only 13 mpg (rumor has it that the XT actually produces 238 horses instead of the advertised 210!) The LS averages about 15-16 mpg, but I am always mellow with it.
I use the LS for everything but racing and in fact, as we say at Miata.net, it is also an MSV, a Miata support vehicle, ferrying parts, rims and tires from shops to the garage and vice-versa.

I bought this CPO 2000 LS400 when I changed careers after 18 years and would need a comfortable, powerful, luxo cruiser for some long road trips. I considered another GS as well as some other big ones like A8, S Class and XJ . I did not consider a 740i as I already had one and did not like owning it . The LS gives me the confidence and solid performance I wanted. It will also leave many others in its' wake at the lights too. I've surprised more than a few people who got an unexpected view of my tailights...
