Instructions for organising music on USB
Hi all,
I'm in the UK and recently purchased a used 2012 Mk4 GS450h. I hope you won't mind my asking a question here to my fellow drivers in America.
The car is lovely although I confess a little odd to drive - smooth, silky and a mite uninvolving.
But I'm struggling with the music system. It has the big screen navigation and Mark Levinson audio if that might be important. I've spent ages trying things out and read pages and pages on forums and I've learnt that the USB drive needs to be formatted in FAT32; it seems that MP3 music files are preferred (which is what I'm using anyway); there is a maximum of 255 files in any folder and as I recall some other maximum storage sizes which mustn't be exceeded() (listed somewhere in the manual but which, as far as I'm aware haven't yet troubled me). At the moment I can find performers, album (or perhaps sub-folder) name and the track name but I've organised it in genres and I can't seem to readily change these. Accessing a particular track seems very tricky if not impossible.
What I really need is some clear and preferably simple instructions on how to organise the files onto the USB memory stick so that I can easily access them in the car. I suspect that a lot of other drivers would appreciate this too and if it included the details on formatting to FAT32 and what software to use to organise the music (Media Monkey seems to be mentioned a lot).
I hope there may be some technically competent audio enthusiast who may be able to help.
In anticipation,
My grateful thanks,
Barry
