Keeping in mind that the fuse rating is the highest input the amp should reasonably get to, you were probably running less than 20 amps through it regularly. That's 240 watts, or about 180 music watts (based on 80% efficiency, which is pretty high). That's actually quite loud in terms of dB measurements when you consider that most subs should be able to do 100dB with 10 watts.

I believe the rating for the sub is 80 watts, and total system is like 400, but I think that's being very generous. The generally accepted rule of thumb is that you should be able to allocate 40% of the available power from the alternator for additional accessories. In a GS, that's about 40 amps. Not sure about an ES, but it's probably close to that. Given the fact that you're not playing sine waves and will most likely use 50% of your amp's power most of the time. That's right back to where you were - about 20 amps, or 180 watts of music power.

I have an SC 430 2002 convertible. Both doors speakers rattle when the bass pounds hard. Can anyone recommend what to do since the dealership is wanting to charge me an arm and a leg for new speakers.
