rough idle

rough idle
the other day i noticed i get a rough idle when in drive.
it goes away in park and neutral. i just had the oil changed last weekend just to add.
maybe its a motor mount or something wrong with the trans?
should i be worried?

When you say rough idle, do you mean the engine sputters or you mean a vibration? It can be normal for a car to vibrate when you put in gear as you are putting load on it and such, but excessive vibration is not normal

it was def a more than normal vibration.
i even brought it up to my friend last night while we were going home and he said the difference from parked to drive is a big jump. maybe im just being hyper sensitive to it but it def feels off.

I just posted about I feel to be more vibration than normal on my 2016 200t while in drive or reverse in another thread. How many miles are you at?

happens to me too.. after half a minute it starts going down.. idk why thats the case, 2015 is 250 awd 41k miles

Hi, just try this: start the car, you'll notice that the engine has started and pushes itself to around 1400 rpms (the exact rpms do not matter). Wait for it to drop around 1000-1100 rpms, it will happen in about 30-60 seconds depending how cold the engine is. Then, wait still! Open the gauge if it's F SPORT and watch the turbo pressure, it's still a bit high than normal, the turbo needle needs to be at 6 o'clock flat as there is no gas pedal input. Wait for that too to drop as well (another 20-60 seconds). If you do not have the F SPORT gauge, then just wait longer and you'll hear and see the rpms drop a second time below 1000 rpms, usually around 700. The thing is that you should wait for the 2 (two) drops of the engine rpms, regardless of the exact rpms I suggested above. Then holding the brake firmly put the tranny lever in R, wait a sec, N another sec, D. Doing this, you should have minimal vibrations.
However, I also suggest to make sure that you put top/premium gas, this is a turbo engine, needs really good gas! I remember that even after following this procedure in the winter, I had a so called `rough` idle a couple of times, and that was because the gas I've put in was not quite the best around!
PS The above step-by-step procedure should be done especially after the car has sat for whole night or several hours, when the outside temp is low. This is to allow the engine oil to reach the optimum starting temperature for current conditions (weather, cold engine etc) and also for the oil to lubricate the turbo as well. However, do not drive the car hard only after doing this! You should wait for the temp gauge to reach the usual operating temp and still, if you want to drive like at the track, the engine should have been driven at least 15-20 minutes, before redlining it all over the place, in long WOT sessions!

Mine does too, but just a little through the steering wheel, although I can feel an annoying vibration through the door handle or armrest in drive or reverse
