Conflicting information about ML stereo

Conflicting information about ML stereo
I have got a few different responses to the same question. If I were to swap in the DVD changer from the ML stereo will it work with the appropriate harnesses and the regular Nav system, or will I need the top half of the ML with Nav system too?
