Default Headlight

I have a 2008 Lexus IS 350 and the driver side headlight filled with water. As of now, the headlight is not working and the headlight housing has a rust coloring on the inside (not clear anymore). I haven't take it apart yet so I have no clue on the condition it is. I'm pretty sure that buying the whole thing from my Lexus dealer is gonna be very expensive so I been looking online to have an idea of how much it will cost me if I have to replace the whole thing. I know my car headlights move when I move the steering wheel while I go through corners when I'm driving. Most of the places I have checked on the web doesn't have very good descriptions so I have no clue what I'm looking for. Don't really want to end up buying the wrong part. Any help would be appreciated.... also recommendations on places with good prices online that I could use to get them from would be nice.

Thanks!!

www.sewellparts.com create a profile withe your clublexus screen name for discounted prices. You'll want the HID housing. You may get lucky in the cl classifieds but it doesn't sound like you can wait around for a nice set to pop up.

I just went through the same thing.. My headlight got water/condensation in it and rotted out the wiring. I got mine wholesale through a buddy at a body shop for something like ~$790.

I have seen non-OEM replacement headlight assemblies for half this price as well.

Replacing it was quite the undertaking as the whole front bumper has to be removed.

Once you replace it, be aware that you will likely want to polish up your old headlight so they match as much as possible.

Let me know if you have any issues.

I had to replace BOTH of my front headlight assemblies on my 07 IS350 due to water intrusion. I had quotes from $850-$1000 each for OEM replacements. I ended up calling my insurance company about it. I said it happened after a torrential downpour and they covered as a glass policy with a $50.00 deductible. If it wasnt for my insurance covering it I probably would have traded the car in (even though i love it) just because i was pissed off about it!

Since you've already decided its a loss id look into baking the headlights in the oven, cleaning them, and then resealing them. Might save you the $1000 and you might as well since you were planning on tossing them after buying a new set anyways. It might just be $50 to replace the bulb. You'll find the instructions to do so all over the net.
