Default ***Need your confirmation*** [Check VSC & grinding noise from rear passenger wheel]

Check VSC light came on. Noticed a very loud grinding noise from passenger rear wheel. I'm thinking its my wheel bearings from that side. Anyone else care to share? Sucks because if it is I have to replace the whole hub from what I've read online. Thanks in advance.

Might be something more than just a bad bearing; the VSC light usually doesn't illuminate for such a failure. Time to remove the wheel and inspect EVERYTHING down there.

When was the last time you checked your brakes. Check VSC ONLY usually comes on with Traction control, stability contorl, Brake assist, or ABS has an issue.

Thanks for the input guys and sorrynfor being ill detailed. So check VSC light stays on the whole time. Brake lights, traction light stays on but no check engine light. Grinding noise on slow roll and I can hear it still around 40mph. I lifted the car and took the wheel off and noticed some dry grease build up by the ball joint that connects to the hub. I pulled and pushed it but it didn't move so I'm still not sure its 100% my wheel hub. The light only turned on once I noticed the grinding noise so hopefully that is all it is.

See if you can get a local shop to help diagnose the issue before you buy parts. I know Sears Auto usually does free wheel and suspension checks. If its a problem I cant figure out, I have them look at it then purchase and install the part my self if its not too bad. And most times its not
