Frozen Nav Screen (newb)
Hello. New to the Lexus scene. Made a jump from an '03 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro to an '06 IS350 Crystal White with 109k miles. I'm loving the past couple of weeks of having this car. But just this morning I faced the dreaded and unwanted frozen Nav screen. ARGHHH! Anyhow, just wanted to get an idea on what others have done to deal with this issue. I hope this isn't an indicator of how owning this car would be. TIA.

It goes past the Lexus entry logo. The buttons surrounding the screen work fine. It's really my only way of controlling the audio and a/c (auto mode only). It's when I try to push the radio presets, a/c fan speed, sound controls, and such is where it does not work.

My question is, which fix would be more permanent or last longer: rewire or screen replacement?

Thanks for the replies so far. Audizine forum has helped me through A LOT of issues with my A4. I get the sense that members in this community would be just as helpful. I appreciate you chiming in to help out a 2IS newbie.

Ok. You're referring to this I'm assuming;
7.3'' Touch Screen Digitizer Panel Replacement
on ebay. They are $30-$50 or so. I'm not saying that will fix your problem, but that is a digitizer. You may need to buy a new touch screen, but I'd start with the diy fix, then try the digitizer, then the touch screen. Unless you are in a hurry and can't wait for the shipping, or don't want to take apart the dash 3 times, then just try the touch screen, but even that isn't guaranteed to work. But I think Gville350 is correct in that it is the digitizer. The diy fix is to fix the digitizer. My fix has lasted a few months now with no problem. I know if mine has problems again, I'll just buy a new digitizer.

If you don't want to have to go through the process of the old digitizer removal and new install, you can just get a new screen like what you posted above (except look for a cheaper one; that one is double than the one I got). The new screen already have the new digitizer on it.
