I have a 2011 is 350 with the f sport package. I was wondering if I have the HID headlamps stock, are my fog lights OEM HID as well?

The stock fog lamps on the '11 IS350 are standard halogen bulbs. The fogs are not supplied as HIDs on any model in the Lexus lineup. However, they are moving toward LED fogs.

I contemplated changing out the fogs to HIDs but I didn't want to do the necessary work, so i replaced them PIAA Ion Yellow H11 bulbs instead.

I switched my out for LED bulb for under $15 on ebay - problem solved

Agreed as most folks are looking for a closer match to their HIDs for the most updated look with fogs. I personally like the contrast of the PIAA yellow fog and the OEM HIDS -- I had an '01 GS with this look from the factory so i'm a little biased/nostalgic

As far as using LEDs in various application including fogs, I've had great experience with iJDMToy and VLED LEDs. Replaced my dad's '11 GS with LED Fogs and they look excellent.

Why couldn't they make the fogs HID the same way as the headlamps?!?!?!

I think cost is the biggest factor when considering using HIDs for fogs. They don't do it because of cost.

Also, true fog lights typically have a more yellowish output to assist with seeing in fog/rain/snowy conditions. This lends itself better to standard halogen bulbs which are cheaper and easier to replace when it comes to maintenance.

Its pretty easy to switch them out for HID's. I did mine in yellow for a more JDM feel...I think you can find some DIY's as a lot of people have done it...

I already have the HID fog lights. I was just wondering if they came stock or did the previous owner of the car installed the HID for the fog lights (now i found out he did from this thread)

I think I may just replace both HID bulbs with the standard halogen bulbs since one of the ballasts died, don't want to deal with dead ballasts in the future

I swapped mine (2013) to 2014 LED fogs, they work fine in fog and the color is par with the HID and LED of the headlights, not a perfect match but pretty close.
