Ok guys, I have a 2000 gs400 with facotry HID headlights. My fog lights are clear. Now, are these fog lights hid also or halogen? The dealership told me they were high intensity but when you look atthem they look like crap. I put in aftermarket xenon bulbs but they burnt out the plastic clip and metal prongs. I am going to get Yellow Foglights but was curious to know if you guys know whether the fogs are HID also??

the fogs ae not HID. The fogs on a GS4 are yellow STANDARD. PIAA is the only manuf that I know of that makes an ion crystal bulb that'll glow yellow in a clear housing (that is to say it is the correct wattage). If your fogs are clear they were either cleared out (i.e. the yellow glass sleeve removed), or someone switched out the complete assembly. On a another note, if fog lights were HID they would not serve the proper purpose of fog lights (they would reflect too much off the fog making it more difficult to see, although others will argue it is beneficial because others will see YOU sooner). What you are looking for is a driving light, or cornering lights. DL-long narrow beam, CL-wide flood type beam.
You should not experiment with bulbs unless you are sure of the wattage ratings etc. MOST manufacturers change their wire gauge based on the wattage they are using/recommending and it only has a certain amount of cushion built in...meaning not wise to replace a 45/42w bulb with an 80w, but 55/50w might be okay.

You are right they are 9006's with the wattage of 51 just like the headlights. You can get away with using 55 watts anything higher would melt the plastic caseing that holda the bulb. I brought some after market (crystal blue bulbs) Here's a pic.

Does ANYBODY know who this PLAYBOYZGS guy is? has anyone gotten burned by him before? I am feeling that I just got burned of over 400 bucks. He responds to me with short emails saying he will send out the product i bought him plus refund my money for something else, but i see nothing, its been 2 weeks. He seems to be active on this board too, i see a lot of recent posts from him. if anyone has his cell or contact info, please let me know.
Otherwise, be wary of this member.
tHE BEST THING THAT I've seen so far that is the closest to HID'S are the sylvania silverstars the're so good that people actualy think I have HID'S in my fogs.
Right know I'm runing the yellow fogs with silverstars and HID'S
and the look is so so hot

What are those "crystal" bulbs? They look pretty tight!
