So I'm removing my front seats to change out the carpet but wasn't sure how to go about it.

1 do I remove the battery cable before disconnecting the seats?
2 will the Air bag indicator light go on if I remove the seats
3 is it ok to connect the battery cable again after removing the seats?
4 will The Air bag reset after reconnecting battery

Help please. Thank you.

I changed out my carpet a few months ago and had the exact same questions as you.

1.) yes, 100% disconnect the battery before removing the seats, as the airbag light could go off
2.) the airbag light will not go off as long as you disconnect the battery BEFORE removing the seats
3.) DO NOT connect the battery as long as the seats are removed
4.) airbag lights do not reset, you have to go to the dealer i believe, (i am not sure about this one)

An extra note, move the seat all the way forward and tilt them before you disconnect the battery. It'll make it easier for you to get the seat out of the doorways, especially since you wont have power after you disconnect the battery

Sorry guy but you dont need to disconnect the battery to remove the seat. As i taking my seat out plenty of time to work on my o2 sensor. Never had an issue with the airbag light staying on after putting everything back together.

So no issues weather I disconnect or not on the battery, no light will come on at all???? Just trying to get clear so as to no issues when I do this. Thanks again for those that have responded.

Mikey I'm in central mass worecester area. It's an easy 15 min job to do. I've also learned you don't need to take out the seat to change the secondary sensor. Took me a few time of doing it to realize it haha.. No issues at all if you don't disconnect the battery. Just make sure you connect everything back when your done.

I know there a TSB for the airbag if you havent had that done yet. But i have done it about 3 time and never once did i dissconnect the battery. Not once had my airbag light stayed on.

Is removing the seats a hard thing to do? I'm trying to replace my driver's seat, probably find a used one somehow, somewhere... dealer wants to charge $2500+ for a new seat and labour... I'm thinking I can secondhand one a lot cheaper and do it myself if it's as easy as y'all make it seem..

I'm wondering this to. My driver's seat has been bothering me for a while and I want to replace it with a near new one (I think a new one is $1k-2k). I don't think there's a way to just change an individual component- in my case just the seat part
