Spark plug change every 60K or 120K
i usually get my oil changes done at the dealership. don't blast me for not doing my own work on my car. at around 60K i asked my advisor to also change out the spark plugs, but he said not to worry about it till 120K. now my advisor has always been good and has never tried to upsell me any work on my car. I spoke to another service advisor and she recommends that they should of been changed out at 60K.
should i change them out now or at 120K? i'm at 68K btw.

Most long-life iridium spark plugs get changed at 120,000 miles (192,000km), however the IS plugs are supposed to get changed at 60,000 miles (96,000km). The service advisor might not have been aware the IS gets them changed more often, but they should be changed.

I've heard aftermarket plugs aren't accepted well by 2GIS motors as some people have had problems as far as engine knock? Can anyone chime in on the matter (not thread jacking of course)?

You only have 3 options for Iridium plugs (that I know of). Autolite, NGK, and the OEM Denso plugs.
Autolite isn't a true iridium plug, so that's out of the question.
NGK, always a great choice, but they are more expensive than the OEM Denso plugs, so you might as well go OEM.
I am curious as to whether or not the spark plug change interval can be every 100k-120k miles. 60k miles just seems so short.

CAN it be? Sure. You can also probably go 60k miles between air filter changes/cleanings too instead of 30k.
In either case your car might run like crap and shorten it's life though.
For the typical length of ownership the difference between a 60k and 120k plug change interval is one extra change. Just follow the manual.

Just like many people go on 10k mile intervals for syn oil changes instead of 5k mile intervals, it's not necessary. So I'm asking as to whether or not it is necessary to change the plugs at 60k miles.

Says who? Not Denso. They typically refer people to the manufacturer for service life for spark plugs, as different engines can change the life expectancy. Toyota/Lexus is the only manufacturer that uses FK20HBR11 Denso spark plugs, and every engine they use it in has a 60k mile service life.
As far as I know, nobody uses FK20HBR11 plugs with a service interval longer than 60k miles. The FK spark plugs are "High Ignitability Plug" specifications with a 0.55mm electrode. Most Toyota/Lexus models with the 120k mile interval use the much longer life SK plugs with a 0.7mm electrode.
