Low beam and Fogs HID's
Hey guys. My fogs and low beams that I bought came in from HIDExtra and I was wondering if there was a DIY. I did a search and found one
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...hid-bulbs.html
I dont understand a couple things though, the whole kit comes with a bulb and balast, do I need anything else? And second I dont know what to do with the balast and I didnt see it in the link above. Any help is appreciated

For the fogs, you will probably want the battery relay harness in addition to the bulbs + ballasts for extra precaution. It's not entirely necessary, but HID bulbs do draw a lot of power at initial start up to those ballasts and its better to be safe than sorry and fry the stock wiring over time. I haven't heard of anyone here frying their stock harness, but i've seen it happen elsewhere with other cars.
For the headlights, if you had HID before, you just need the bulbs. If you didn't have HID before, you need the bulbs + ballasts + arguably the relay harness again.
Install is a bit different for non-HID and HID cars. Do you currently have HID bulbs in your headlights?

Actually, i believe HID's are illegal in Texas. But the IS comes with projectors in the headlight, so i wouldn't be too worried because you won't be blinding everyone anywhere close to those people who don't have projector headlights. With 6k headlights, and 3k fogs, i don't think you will have issues. It's mostly people with 8k. 10k, and higher that get pulled over.

/My headlights and fogs are completely stock but like the light is pretty white, so I think they are HID? Im not sure. Im a real noob when it comes to HID's I have a 2009 IS so I need a harness as well? I bought the 55w for both so im not sure if i need a harness. How can you tell if you have HID's or not stock?

Hopefully you're not telling you purchased a car and do not know what it came with ehehhe!
A simple way is, bring up the satellite switch mode (like where you adjust the speed and tacho indicator) scroll through all the menus, if you see one which saids "AFS", you have HID. Note: this method is not applicable for the 2011+ cars since AFS was dropped.
Other methods you can tell which would be applicable for all years.
Assuming car off:
When the low beam is turn on, you will hear a spark
When lights on, you can hear an audible frequency like noise until you turn off the lights
Also if you start the car, if you see your lights go down an up, which means you have it since auto leveling is also part of it as well.
Assuming car off:
When the low beam is turn on, you will hear a spark
When lights on, you can hear an audible frequency like noise until you turn off the lights
Also if you start the car, if you see your lights go down an up, that means you have it since auto leveling is also part of it as well.
You bought 55w versions for HID? Hmm, I probably would not recommend them - may have heat issues and also may fall in legality issues because they can be too bright.
