Default Charcoal filter

Did anybody remove charcoal filter from the air box?
Purpose: more MPG

Wouldn't this be the same as just getting an aftermarket intake without using the Lexus air box? Say for example a K&N cone filter.

interesting and it should work in logic. but will it mess up any sensor in long run?
