Default 12" Sub for my Sound system?

hey guys

i have a 2007 ML equipped IS250

i really want more bass from the system tho (yes im a typical teenager)
but i have no clue on how to wire it up

my friend told me that i should get a RCA converter and plug that into where the stock Subs go into on the Stock Amp
then plug the other side of the RCA converter to a Aftermarket Amp, then plug the Aftermarket subs into the aftermarket amp

is this right?
thanks!

Dude you obviously have no clue what you are doing so i suggest you take it to a stereo shop and have someone install it before you screw something up and end up spending 5x as much at the dealer to repair/replace what you already have.

I highly suggest that you have a reputable shop install it for you. Search around for price quotes on the sound system that you like because most shops will give you a package deal (amp, subs, enclosure box, wires, converters) that will include the price of installation. The reason I suggest this is because your friends are still your friends, and i doubt they are certified to work on cars. Reputable shops have experience and they most likely have worked on a lexus IS 350. When i had my system installed, i watched the process from start to finish and am GLAD i did not have to do it myself because of all the work they do. It took them 1.5 hours of continuous work and they knew exactly what they were doing. There wasnt a moment that they had to pause and sratch their head and think about what to do with a specific wire or screw. I was very pleased with the installation.

My system was two 10" JL w0 subs powered by an audiobahn a6004j amp. The owner gave me a package deal that included everything needed to install (high lo converter, 4 gauge wire, enclosure box) and he even included 2 6" speakers for the front. Everything, including installation and lifetime warranty, for the price of $350. I thought this was a steal because most places charge you a fortune for installation alone if you dont buy the parts from them. But i guess people who know what they are doing buy their own parts to do their own installation. However, people like you or me should just let the shops do it because from what i observed in that 1.5 hours, it can get really complicated if you are not experienced.

Get lots of quotes from different shop because from my experience, most shops price match or even give you on the spot deals to get your business if they know you've been doing your homework/research on prices. If you dont know prices, bring a friend who does so they dont rip you off.

Once you have your subs installed, I recommend that you dynamat your trunk and doors. I just did this and it significantly adds quality and value to your existing sound system. You will get less rattles, tighter bass, clearer mids and high treble. This project you can do by yourself because shops will charge you a fortune for something that only takes time and very little skill or experience lol.
