Hi guys I have been lurking here for a while researching for a new IS350. I am a install shop manager on LI and do remote starts on similar vehicles with the smart key setup like you guys have, including my Infiniti FX45. I actually have an IS 250 coming into my shop for remote start in a week or so. It looks do-able according to my tech info. The only thing will be the part where you "take over" the car. Since there is no key to get in and turn in the IS, an unauthorized driver can get in and steal your ride. I have some ways around that, but will need to test them first. I will let you guys know how it comes out.

Yeah. We get some of their cars to fix their mess. If you aren't a celebrity, they don't always do the best job.

Well it is a unit coming out of their ES so it will be labor only. Probably for a new one in the $350 range.

I don't proclaim to be a Toyota expert, but I've been told by several people in the Toyota and Lexus business that the Avalons and ES's are made on the same assembly line, some go to Toyota others go to Lexus. Maybe they were lying, or misinformed, I have no way of knowing. This would seem to be more cost effective for the parent company, IMHO. I have owned both, and the Avalon is a smoother riding vehicle, maybe it's just the shocks and suspension, but everyone that I ever had in that car commented on how smooth it rode. It certainly felt more like a Lexus.

Per Toyota website, a build your own Avalon Limited w/ option combo B is $37,095 delivered before options. I added every accessory, including the remote start, and came up with a total MSRP of $39,333. Guess I was $667 short. We may differ in our definition of "loaded", mine is the highest end model with everything I can get on it, hence, my original comment.

I think the EU-market Toyota RAV4 (the new one) has a smartkey + remote start option
