This is true of max performance summer tires in general. Over the past 16 years I've been putting max performance tires on my car eight months of the year, and snow tires on my car the remaining four months. Probability would suggest that 2/3 of my flats would be on the summer tires, and 1/3 on the snow. But in actuality, I've picked up screws and nails in my summer tires 8-10 times, but never (not even once) picked one up in a snow tire.
