New IS tires need to be changed every 15k?

Tires
This was also said about the GS 17" tire option, and I got 22k out of mine with a bad alignment...would've gotten close to 30k if the alignment was ok...will let you know how the new set of Pirellis works out.

My stock z rated Bridgestone Potenza RE040 215/45ZR17's lasted me to about 28k miles. I do mostly long freeway driving (100 miles a day) so it's a little more easier on tires than just driving 100% city.
Because the new IS will be using a staggered tire setup for the optional 18" wheels, wider tire/wheel in the back, you will obviously get no chance to prolong the wear of your tires through a tire rotation.

When I got my IS300 back in June 2000 the dealership went on and on about how the summer performance tires (Goodyear GS-Ds) would probably only last 10k -12k at most to cover themselves from any complaints. I drove everywhere like a maniac and got just over 20k out of the tires. Later switched to Pirelli P600 SS all-seasons and hated them - noisy and much less grip.
Current car is G35 with 6MT and Sport suspension etc. It also had summer Goodyear GS-Ds and, even driving fairly gently, I only got 18k out of them (which is more than I got out of the transmission or brakes).
BTW I recently switched to Avon M500 all-seasons - vast improvement in noise, comfort, wet weather grip and probable lifespan etc compared to the Goodyear GS-Ds for half the price ($110 each) with the only penalty being slightly worse dry-weather grip. Highest rated all-season tire overall on Tire Rack I think.
