Default 10,000 mile oil change / service?

So I'm getting nagged on the dashboard for my 10k oil change. I was wondering how much does it cost for those that have done it already so I won't get ripped off by the stealership. Also someone (btwanky?) mentioned that I can just go to Toyota to get the service done there instead. What price should I be expecting? Since I'm at work, I don't have the owner's manual with me, but do they do anything else at 10k miles? I'd like to put in Mobil 1 synth also. Can I just buy their oil filter and take it to an independent shop?

I don't know about having a Toyota tech joy riding in your IS F. They don't see a car like that too often. The Lexus dealer is used to it. They have procedures about who can drive the car. It's worth a few extra bucks to me.

That begs the question...does Lexus put synthetic in our cars?

If so my dad can't get the local Toyota dealer to do the oil change on his LS as Lexus won't sell them the oil. And the dealer won't put in oil you supply.

Both crazy I know.

In a word - NO! Not unless you request it. They use Dyno oil, as does the factory.

Just tell the SA it needs oil & filter change (not oil service change, which involves few BS visual inspections). 10 quarts 5w30 + filter + .5 hr < $110.

Just called the local toyota dealership. About $40. He said he'll take off a couple of bucks if I bring in my own oil.

Do you really wait until 10,000 miles to change your oil ??
Wow, that is amazing.

^^^^No, the first oil change is supposed to come @ 5K miles, and be complimentary. The subsequent oil changes come @ 5K mile intervals, and are not free.

Not at all really. I've been running synthetic on 10k mile changes since 1990 when I first started running Red Line.
