2013-14 Suspension on 2008...halfway there
My 2008 has 96k so it is time for a suspension change. Like most, I thought the 08 suspension was quite harsh. I never drove the IS-F on a new suspension, so I wasn't sure if it was the years/mileage wear/tear that made it harsh or if that's the way it was.
I chose to try to upgrade 3/4 components in the 2013 suspension changes pdf posted in this forum.
Rear upper #2 control arm assembly - wasn't going to change immediately
Front and rear shock absorber assembly - completed w/oem Sachs
Front and rear coil spring - completed with 2012+ swift spring
Rear lower control arm - completed oem
***Toe control link sub assembly - bolt hit body
***I was unable to remove the bolt as it hit the underside of the body. I looked at the manual and it seemed pretty straight forward even to someone with limited mechanical background. I needed to put the car back together so I left this part with the older oem part.
I called my Service Advisor, gave him the part #, and he quoted $280 total and $100 for alignment. Sold! I dropped it off last and got the call this morning. They couldn't get it done without dropping the rear suspension cross member brace. 7 hour minimum. No thanks.
Does anyone know any trick to getting the toe link (ft lateral rod - part #4870530100) bolt off and on easily? Thanks.
Btw....I love the new suspension setup in my initial impressions. It has (to me) the perfect amount of feedback w/o the harshness.

I did the rear toe arm on jack stands in my buddies driveway in a couple of hours (including lower camber arms)
So wtf?! It took us a while, we had to get at all sorts of weird angles since the aftermarket toe arms didn't want to go in but the stock came out fine, but it's definitely doable.
We definitely didn't drop the cross brace.
Hope that helps

No clue then. Not sure why I couldn't get it out. But I was feeling dumb until the tech couldn't either.
What special service tool did you use to get the ball joint end out?

Just to confirm we are talking about the same part:
Green arrow
Remove nut and toe adjust plate.....then try to remove toe adjust cam from otherside (hits underside of body)

I can't remember from those pics, but it should have been this part. My parts guy got it for me so I'm not 100% positive this is the link but it should be.

It was a huge pain in the *** but doable with regular tools (he didn't have any special dealer tools) but we did have to slightly bend where it mounts on the INSIDE of the car closer to the body to get the toe arm in (not the side on the wheel hub) then when you torque down the bolt it bent that part back together.
Really hard to explain this over a computer, sorry.
