Changing menu language????
First of all, hello everybody
I'm a new member but I don't own a lexus so haven't really introduced myself.
Anyway, I'm thinking about perhaps getting an IS-F. However, the only way I can do this is to import it from Japan. This means the sat-nav will be in Japanese.
The lack of GPS stuff doesn't really bother me, but from my test drive of the IS250, I recall that quite a lot of the controls are done through the touch screen - which in this case will be in Japanese.
So, my questions for your kind attention are:
1.) Is it possible to change the menu language on a JDM vehicle through the menus?
2.) If not, does any vendor have a solution for this? I would consider buying a complete unit to replace the Japanese one providing it is a direct replacement (i.e. works just like stock).
3.) Does anyone know if it would be possible to buy an "english spec" car in Japan? They seem to have a english language section and even an english brochure on their lexus.jp site.
Thank you for your kind help

The language is based on the software installed in the nav system. If it is DVD based, changing the software is as simple as swapping out the DVD. If you're looking at a 2010 model, the software is on a hard drive, so changing it might be a bit more challenging - you'd have to wait for an update in the language you want, then apply that update to (maybe) change the base language.
