Default "Key not detected" ??

My 15 IS 350 F Sport would not detect the key this morning. I remembered to place the fob against the start button and she started.

I drive about fifteen miles to work and the light kept flashing and the dash said "key not detected"

Is this just a low battery on the fob?

Surprised me that I was able to drive it. Thought it wouldn't drive if the key wasn't detected.

Sounds like they key fob is dead. Once the car is started, you can drive from here to the moon and it won't shut off. You won't be able to restart the car without the key though.

Okay. That's what I figured. Thank you.

either that, or your mobile phone is nearby your keyfob.

I sometimes have my mobile and keyfob in the same pocket or compartment.

This will also happen if you have a shielded wallet in the same bag/pocket as your key.

Had that happen on mine as well but when i tried to turn the car off it wouldnt completely turn off. Took it to the dealership and they said as soon as they pluged it into the computer everything started working again fine. hmmmm saw a couple threads about the key not being detected.
