IS200t Test Drive

I'm surprised you don't feel the turbo lag; unless Lexus fixed it silently, when you nail the accelerator from a dead stop, there should be a second or two of hesitation before the car moves. How peculiar.
E46CT, I'm still waiting for the day I run into you on the road; I'm always looking for your SLM!

Yeah my IS200t doesn't like to be floored from a dead stop. I wonder how the BMW 328s feel. I drove it once but never that hard. It's been a while.
I also wonder if the quoted 0-60 time of 6.9s is from a dead stop. If it is, then that means the "launched" time might be a second or two faster putting it on par with the BMW 328i.
Mason which IS do you have? I'm in the Irvine area.

My IS is an EWP 200t non-F. It's not heavily modified visually, but the satin white front emblem is probably the most notable feature; I'm also in Irvine, but I'm on the "southern" side closer to UCI/Newport .

From my experience with the 328, it doesn't have that same accelerator lag. I can't verify, but 6.9 sounds about right from a dead stop as that initial 1 to 2 second delay makes sense when compared to the 328i's 5.5~ 0-60 time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but from a DEAD STOP, turbo lag wouldn't be the cause of the 1-2 sec delay. From my experience w/ the is200t, the 1-2 sec delay depends on the drive mode. The delay is very noticeable on Eco and Normal modes. The accelerator is more responsive in Sport mode. Perhaps on Eco and Normal the transmission starts on off on 2nd gear for better fuel economy and comfort (less of a jerk from a dead stop). That's how our Mercedes acts (Comfort vs Sport modes). Not sure if this is the case with Lexus.

As far as gears, I'll have to check again, but from what i remember noticing, the car starts in gear 1 from a stop regardless of mode. you can watch the gear select indicator

you are correct. eco/sport, auto or manual shifting dead stop take offs with the pedal planted have no effect on turbo lag. the turbo has to spool up to get full torque. advertised for the 200t as 258 ft lbs@1,650 rpms

The pursuit of F
Lag is present even with the NX. It's the engine more than transmission gearing. Floor it from a dead stop and it slowly moves forward for one second then lunges forward with a strong pull. If you want a lag-free strong launch, brake torquing it does the trick but it's not a sustainable action due to the stresses on the powertrain. Best time 0-60 time with the NX with this launch I got is 6.9 s. I'd expect the IS to hit low to mid 6s in this manner.
