Toyota Vs Lexus Maintenance
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any insight into how the maintenance service differs between the two companies? I have an 08 IS350 that is at 55.4k miles and I wanted to get quotes for the 60k service.
For the 60k Mile Service...
Lexus quoted me $742 after a promotional coupon of -$100.
Toyota quoted me $260.
The guy at Toyota said it's possible that Lexus does a couple different things for example Brake fluid flush (not sure if he included pads in this) but that's an additional $150ish but the $260 includes; full inspection, oil + filter, cabin air filter, and I believe intake filter.
He was very specific that if there was anything wrong with the vehicle that it would be extra but I believe that's the case with Lexus as well. I purchased a bumper to bumper warranty with the vehicle for the next 4 years or 48k miles, so I'd like to get the most thorough inspection and replace anything wrong under warranty if possible. If Lexus is more extensive with their inspection and testing - I wouldn't necessarily mind paying extra for peace of mind.
Any insight or advice is very much appreciated!

Did you ask for a detailled receipt when you got your quotes? They should be able to tell you everything that'll be done in each dealership. If Lexus is charging 500$ over Toyota, they will most likely to more things. Labor is more expensive at Lexus, but it wouldn't be a 500$ difference it they would be doing the exact same maintenance.

^i would get the detailed receipt to see how many of those things you can do yourself.. or look into what is actually necessary. almost 800 for a service is ridiculous

60K will include spark plugs, cabin air filter, engine air filter, brake fluid, accessory belt, engine oil and filter, and maybe something else I'm missing. Spark plugs are easy to replace if you do it yourself.

only the belts would be worth going to the dealer for... and maybe the spark plugs because they're not easy to get to. everything else is super easy to do yourself if you have the tools (the cost of which amounts to one visit to the dealers...)

Current Toyota Camry V6 and the Toyota Avalon have the same engine that we have on the IS350. Go get it done cheaper at Toyota, if you can not do it yourself.

Thanks for all the replies - I will get a breakdown of what each respective companies intends to do and go from there. DIY is an option but I do attribute some value to the car having a maintenance record should I decide to get rid of it eventually, and for at least this service I'd like to get a professional's eyes on the car overall for any warranty items. Anyway, once again thanks everyone for the input.

Similar, not the same. The Avalon and Camry V6 have the 2GR-FE, while the IS350 has the 2GR-FSE. Main difference is the fuel injection; the Lexus has the D-4S hybrid port/direct injection system.

The 2GR-FSE is similar in basic design to the 2GR-FE (with the addition of D4 injectors and mounted longitudinally), however most parts are specific/unique in some way. You'll be able to get an oil filter and some of the gaskets, etc., at a Toyota dealership, however they can't order things like brakes, etc., unless they bring them in from another local Lexus dealership.
