Help! Headlight Issue - New Bulb Not Working
Hello, I'm new to this forum, but I'm hoping someone can help me.
I have a 2008 IS 250 (base model). My driver's side headlight burned out last summer and I replaced it to the tune of about $300 in Aug/Sept 2015. Well a few weeks ago it went out again. (Note: it is not flickering or going out and coming on again, as in other threads. It is just out!)
However, this time the new light would not illuminate. My car place (not the dealership) told me they couldn't figure out what was wrong since the daytime running light, high beam and blinker all still work. I took it into Lexus for a $60 diagnosis/quote. They said I needed a whole new light and quoted $1600. Upon further questioning they said it was the ballast.
Upon calling my car guy, they want $1100 for the whole kit for this fix. However, when I search online for the part it shows up all over the internet for less than $100.
Has anyone had an issue like this before? Can anyone help me out with figuring out what to do? I'm happy to order a part online and show up with it to my car guy to fix it. They've done this in other situations and only charged minimally for labor.

The wrong move is paying full price at dealer.
The right move is getting that $100 ballast and hoping it fixes it.
If it is the ballast and if you have already replaced the bulb once, you should easily be able to DIY replace the ballast, not sure why you'd be paying labor for that? Sounds like a no brainer to order replacement ballast.
Another option is buying an entire assembly on eBay or simliar and just replacing the whole monkey business ball of wax.

Thank so much for such a quick response!
Do you have an idea of how to know what part to get for sure? I searched 2008 IS 250 headlight ballast, or in your suggestion assembly. But how do I know it's the right part? Is there a name or number I need to look for?
