Default Help!!!!! headlight assembly for IS 350

I bought a used 2008 IS 350 and have an issue with the Headlamp assembly. The chucklehead before me did not want to purchase the Lexus light bulbs and decided to take a screwdriver and rewire them to allow another type of light. When I say take a screwdriver to it I mean he stabbed a hole in the bottom of the assembly. I am not sure what kind of light he installed and the Lexus dealership found the issue after I took it in because the AFS light keeps blinking. I decided to keep the assembly the way it is but now have a burned out bulb. I am not a gearhead and I guess have a couple options.

1. Pay for a entirely new assembly and take my beating from the dealer. 1k plus.

2. Buy a replacement bulb but have no idea the difficulty level in installing it. Still have the AFS light blinking away.

Anyone have any recommendations.

Default resolution

The estimate from the dealership was $1,267.46 which includes parts and labor. The other option is to go to my neighborhood Japanese auto service dept and pay $200.00 to reinstall a new aftermarket light.

The scary part is that after installation I will need to Duct tape the gaping hole at the bottom to ensure that no moisture get's in. 1200 is a little rich for my blood so it looks like I will roll the dice for 200.00. I will try and get some pictures of what it looks like. I am sure it will make you cry.

If the guy you bought your car from.. didnt tell you about this ghetto rig... CALL that fool up and tell him about it.... he should put in some money for it, since it was his great idea to destroy the headlamp... and maybe you can get a brand new one?...

but if you are going to patch up the hole in your headlamp... im thinking instead of duct tape use silicon...?..... to me it seems like it would be better seal... then duct tape?.. but on any note.. sorry to hear bro...

Does anyone know where you could pick up a non HID bulb that replicates the blue color of HID? Because the harness that was Frankensteined together is not HID I now have one blue HID stock system and one white light one.
