Default Is250 head light replacement

Hey guys in new here and I havnt been a lexus owner for 2 weeks before I hit a 1000 dollar hid replacement bill. I showing off my new car to my friends and they noticed my headlight out. So I just replaced the bulb. Didn't fix it. It will turn on adjust then turn right back off. So I got it looked at and it's the ballast. Took it to a lexus tech and they said u can't replace the ballast u have to replace the whole headlight. So me and my electrical wizard dad went in i got a new ballasts and he thought he found the right ballast wire and cut it to splace into the new ballasts but it didn't work. So I was wondering if u think these would work or be any good

I assume you bought the wrong ballasts if you had to cut into wires. I suggest patching the wires up and buying some used ones off eBay as some used d4s ballasts off a is250/350 or similar Lexus will be plug and play as they are replaceable. There's a few for $50+, for example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-11-LEXU...xWFvaZ&vxp=mtr

Ah, forgot about that. Regardless, you can mount it externally and just feed the wires through the bulb access plate. Just get some silicon to seal it up. Or, you can try this out, it's for a GS but it's the same for the IS: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...headlight.html (This should be cake for an electrician, if you haven't tried this already assuming you got the wrong ballasts)

I assume you kind of want those headlights? They're just generic aftermarket headlights with LEDs. The projectors suck in them, light output will be abysmal compared to your stock HIDs (which aren't all that great in the first place ). I would just find a decent used headlight somewhere that doesn't have any broken tabs (ebay, junk yards) that include the ballast.

U don't need to open the headlight to replace ballast. It's actually a very simple job but u do have to remove the bumper and headlight. To replace the ballast itself is only 10 mins job. Oem ballast goes around $80 on ebay
