I was installing new bulbs in my headlights yesterday and when I took off the air intake lower box and the air inlet, I noticed there was a long black rectangular piece of styrofoam. It was wedged in between the frame of the car and the top of the radiator. Half of it was twisted so it was partly hanging down in front of the radiator? Is this supposed to be here?
I found it in the area below the frame in the red circle.
Maybe to keep out dirt and small rock. I would leave where it is.
It wasn't even glue in; it was just wedged there. And half of it was covering the top part of the radiator, which I presume isn't supposed to be covered.
It looks like the pieces of foam that are attached to the radiator, they're there to help prevent airflow from going around the radiator, but they're not super important. They're held on with an adhesive, and only available with a new radiator from Lexus (aftermarket radiators don't typically have them).
