Default help! noise during idle

please help guys, there's two noises the first is a continuous clicking sound and the second sounds like an old "clunking" noise if you can hear it, not sure what it is, need to know if dealer will fix it. i had CPO and expired around september 2014. its an 08 is250 awd, 70k miles approx

First, the continuous "noise" you hear is the direct injection; normal.

Ok, on to the problem. I'd agree, it sounds like the water pump is going. I'd also check the alternator too.

yea went to a local shop today they said it's the water pump. they wanted 800 bucks to fix it says it's 5 hours of labor. and includes an aftermarket pump. i scheduled an appointment for next Wednesday at the dealer for the recent recall so ill have them determine if it's covered under powertrain warranty. fingers crossed, what do you guys think i should do?

You can save a lot of money and do it yourself for the price of a new waterpump and coolant. You can find a DIY on here.

If you are within the factory powertrain warranty still...yes, it would fix it for free. Had mine replaced at 27k miles.

5 hrs sounds about right. For the aftermarket water pump, get the one from AISIN ($100 from rockauto), they make the oem one for Lexus.

So did the noise end up coming from the waterpump?

Boy does that ever sound like a bad water pump, reminds me of my old AMC 4.0L when the water pump was going out. The clicking, as everyone has already mentioned, is the direct injection.

^Better than nothing, since you have no more warranty.
