Does your is350 burn oil?
Hi all I have a 2007 IS350 with under 120k miles....Just had my first oil change about 4000 miles ago, 5w30 mobile 1 with toyota filter, and today I received an engine oil low warning light! Freaked me out so I bought some oil and poured 1 qt in
I used to change oil every 7-10k miles on the previous acura, with mobile 1 filter and oil, drove like a charm.
Figured I should at least be able to last 5000 miles for the lexus.....
Does your IS350 burn engine oil? is that a common thing? My mechanic says it's common for toyota and nissan engines to burn oil. Is there anything I can do to reduce oil burning?
Thanks for any insight!!

My is350 burns gas lol. Anyway
if you use regular oil then change it around 3000-4000K. Toyotas used to be every 3000k
New IS350 says 5000K. But they do recommend you to check every month, Incase u are driving under different conditions…

My LS motor burns oil at 44k miles. It's common in a lot of cars to consume oil. Like others have said it depends on conditions. Motors normally use oil die to hear soak and so on. Not sure if an entire quart is common but expect oil to be loaded between changes. My 06 350 is a later year build, I try to go every 3k for changes.

It is normal for engine with high milage to burn oil but make sure you keep and eye for excessive burning.
My 2006 is350 with 110k burns about 1/2qt every 3-4k miles. My oil change interval is 7.5k with Mobile 1. I just filled to the max line (on the dip stick just in case I forget to check the oil level).
My old beater RSX Type S was burning oil like crazy (a quart every 2.5k). I switched to Castro Synthetic and it helped a little bit.

Burning oil is one thing. All cars burn a little bit of oil here and there but it shouldn't be enough to cause a low oil CEL light. Then that means you may have an oil leak. I would check around the ground if you park your car for extended periods of time where oil leaks from. A common place where there are oil leaks are the oil filter housing in front of the engine/oil pan.
