DIY air filter engine cover instructions....
On my 2012 IS 250 that one screw on the right on the passenger side engine cover over the air filter housing doesn't seem to be just a screw. I am having trouble getting it off. The screw seems to be covered by some kind of plastic and though using a screw driver feels like it loosens the screw contained within the plastic cover it doesn't seem to come loose in away that releases the cover.
Anyone else have this experience and if so, hints about to remove or loosen the "screw" such that the engine cover can be removed?
Thanks!

Quick story related to changing the cabin filter which drives the point home of how CAREFUL you need to be with it. I took my car to a local (non dealer) auto shop to get a diagnostic on a rear axle noise. They took it upon themselves to do a FULL car diagnostic, including removing my filters. I was not happy about this, but i figured - fine, ill change them myself later. Good reminder. Two weeks later i hear a LOUD clacking noise coming from the glove compartment when the car was in "fresh air" mode (another tech had changed the mode, which i wouldn't have done, so this revealed the issue). After going thru ALL the lexus forums and down the youtube wormhole (thank God for youtube vidoes by fellow Lexus loving people), i figured out what happened. Long story short: one of the idiot techs had shoved the filter + plastic filter basket back in the cabin filter area incorrectly, and the plastic door that rotates to switch between recirc and fresh air was hitting the plastic basket and causing the racket. The motor kept trying to move the door to the right position but it could not. I was extremely lucky that the motor did not burn out and the servo arm was not broken (which would be a $1k+ repair). I went in there myself (following these instructions) and correctly replaced and reset the cabin filter -- noise was gone! (huge sigh of relief).
