Door Got Blown Open By The Wind...Something Broke!
Hey guys,
So I had just got done cleaning the car on Saturday and pulled it out on the street to clean a couple things up in my garage. I opened the door and it caught a huge gust of wind and before I could catch it I heard something snap and fall behind the door. Nothing is bent, the door still functions properly but the bar that limits how much the door opens is showing a little bit longer then before...so it ALMOST opens completely straight if you're looking at the side of the car. Anyone ever had this happen before and how much did it cost to fix? I am taking the car to the dealer tomorrow and my service guy said it shouldn't be too ugly if the door is functional and none of the welded parts are affected. Any help/advice is appreciated.

No cracked paint and the welded hingles show no sign of being messed up. It seems that even though the door check is probably broken...it is still limiting the door from going further. It basically opens about one half more then the highest setting when the door is fully open...if that makes sense.

Ive seen this same thing happen to trucks at work. When I was stationed in New Mexico the wind would catch the doors and literally push them so far around that they would touch the fenders. Sounds to me like you might have bent or broke the door check..
