Thinking of getting 2011 IS 250, is CPO worth it?
I've been looking at the CPO listings at the lexus dealers in my area. My focus is on the 2010-2011 models because 2010 is when they introduced bluetooth as a standard option. However a few questions:
1) Is CPO worth it for a 2010-2011 used car? There's still about 2-3 years left on the original warranty so isn't the CPO a waste of money?
2) A lot of the good CPO deals are dealership loaner cars. Do people abuse IS 250 loaners a lot?
3) Does CPO require that I go to the dealer I bought the car from for service/repairs?

Nope, that'd be illegal.

In your situation I would recommend buying a 2010-2011 model non-CPO and then call up Jerry Johnson or Troy Dietrich and buy a Platinum VSA before your factory warranty expires. More information on warranties can be found here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-threads.html

1. if lexus is trying to push a 2011 as a CPO, they should be whipped. thats a suckers buy.
2. I doubt lexus owners are abusing an IS 250 loaner. its the slowest sedan in lexus' lineup. if it were a 350, i would take abuse into consideration.

I would never buy a loaner or heven forbid a rental. I've seen people rent a car for the weekend and use it at the local track/autox etc.
I've also seen loaners being raced, and e brake slides at 60mph in a parking lot when I was back in high school. I was not the one doing the driving nor was it my loaner. Let's just say the car was driven back to the dealership with oil coming out from the oil cap and all four tires needing replaced. The sad thing is the dealership gave that person another loaner for the remainder of the time.

In general I think CPO is worth it. 2011 CPO is unusual. Normally my next question would be what is the in service date and mileage, but since this is a loaner I would skip it and move on. While I am careful with loaners, I see teh way the interiors are treated and that makes me concerned about the mechanical components being abused. Next....

Thanks for the feedback. I found a lot of 2011 CPOs so I guess dealers are using it as an excuse to raise the price. There's a few good deals on 2009 CPOs that I'm considering and none of them are loaners.
Also a question about the backseats. Almost every review I've read mentions how cramped it is back there. I have a few friends who are 6'2 to 6'4 are they gonna be able to even get in the car? It won't happen often, but sometimes I get dinner with friends and end up driving.

6'2" and 6'4" will suffer in back.

i'm only 5'5" and no one in my family is over 6'1". i love this car, but when i drive it no one can sit behind me comfortably.... not to mention my 6'1" husband. lack of backseat room in this car is the main reason we purchased an RX.

6'2" and 6"4" are a no go for the back seats. Unless the people in the front are pretty much hugging the dash, it's going to be somewhat uncomfortable lol. I'm OK in the back seat if the front seat is moved up far, but if its even half way back, its hard for me to sit comfortably (I'm 6ft tall).
So looks like if you have dinner with friends, you'll no longer have to be the one driving
