Default Clicking behind dash when starting

I just bought and 06 IS250 6-sp manual. When I start it, I press the start button, an and there is a series of quick clicking sounds that seems to come from behind the lower dash near the drivers door, clicks multiple times in quick succession, for about a half of a second, then the car starts and everything works fine. Is that clicking normal, and does anyone know why it does that? Thanks in advance from a stone cold newb.

Wow Im having the same problem. I thought it was the engine at first. So what I did I didnt press the brake when I started the car.

Well I took it to a shop and they told me to take it to the dealer. I will be doing this in 2 weeks.

2006 right?

I can help, this literally just happened to me as well.

I bought my car and noticed this ever so faint clicking sound on as the speedo and tach go from zero to full on startup. I brought it into the dealership it and turns out to be a semi-common problem (as evident by this thread), where the gear that works with the speedo needs slips.

My car was under warranty, so it cost nothing; however, the list price on work / parts was $1,200.

They replaced the entire cluster, which is pretty sweet since they had to order it from Lexus. They ordered it with whatever miles I had on the car when they found the problem, so for the next 2 weeks while it was being shipped, I drove all over the place on "fake" miles. Not many, but had about 400 on there that all came off when they put the new cluster in. Still felt good, lol.
