fan air smells like ***
I've changed my cabin air filter and the fan air just stinks, it's unbearable but the smell goes away once I flip the AC on.
Anyone help? please thanks!

How often do you have the AC on? I keep mine in auto, so I am pretty sure the compressor always runs, which removes the moisture from the air. This helps keep the interior dry and fresh.
AC isn't necessarily just for cold air. And you can have hot air coming out and the AC compressor on.

If smells like dirty gym socks or ****, then it's most likely mildew or mold build-up in your A/C System.
You need to use seaform or something to clean that out.
TO prevent this, it's a good idea to turn off your a/c and switch to outside air about 10 minutes before you park or turn off your igniition. This will allow the excess water to drain out of the a/c system and prevent mildew build-up.
You can also try cranking your heating on full blast for about 15 min - 30 min to kill off the mold bacteria. I heard this may work also.
BTW, what year is your IS? If you have an older IS, check your back seat floor carpet if it is wet. There is a TSB on older IS for the a/c not draining properly. The water or moisture will back up into the back seat causing carpet to get wet. Over time, mold will build up....

I agree with shadow, I've done the same and sprayed lemon Lysol in the intake (outside, at the bottom of the windshield) like a lot lol. Gone.

If it's very bad, you may have to treat it more than once.

When my IS250 ac started to smell like dirty gym socks what I did was:
1. remove cabin air filter
2. start car
3. with doors closed, turn a/c on to the strongest setting
4. spray short bursts of canned lysol in the area where the cabin filter goes
5. until you smell the scent of the lysol come through the vents
6. I continued this for 5 minutes with short burst of lysol
Supposedly that killed whatever mold that was building up in the vents. Used the a/c the next day, smell was gone.
