Some of you probably saw the email from Sewell this morning, but the new 2012 (v12.1) navigation maps will be available shortly. Target ship date is October 3rd.
Do they ever change the interface or is it just poi updates and road maps update. Are theyre any new must have features cause my 2011 maps work great.
Wondering the same thing. I still have the 2006 maps, but I like the fact that I can do the manual "Volume" override for driving and still be able to input an address without doing the wirecutting Nav hack.

Are you sure? The USB Gen 6 ones is such that the dealership can only do it. It's differnet from the GEN5 which uses a DVD to my understanding which you can do it yourself.
Many of the updates don't really update much, be forewarned. There has been an Exxon station in my town that has been vacant since about 2005, yet my 2010 Lexus still proudly shows it. And my street has been in existence for 11 years but, nope, not in the 2010 Lexus' database. It all depends on what firm is updating the database, in my case they are pretty slack on updates.
I haven't tried it yet myself (still using '06 maps) but I've been waiting for '12 to give it a shot. I haven't wanted to give up the override feature either.
