My local dealership says the Gen 6 update won't be available for another week or so too. YMMV I guess.

Wondering the same thing. I still have the 2006 maps, but I like the fact that I can do the manual "Volume" override for driving and still be able to input an address without doing the wirecutting Nav hack.

There maybe usually bug fixes too.

Here is the list of updates in the 2011. The 2012 information isn't up there yet but will be up there eventually sometime after official release.

Anyone who had the original '06 navigation who upgraded to a newer version, can you still do the "Volume" override?

Way too much for something you can do yourself in 5 minutes.

Are you sure? The USB Gen 6 ones is such that the dealership can only do it. It's differnet from the GEN5 which uses a DVD to my understanding which you can do it yourself.

Many of the updates don't really update much, be forewarned. There has been an Exxon station in my town that has been vacant since about 2005, yet my 2010 Lexus still proudly shows it. And my street has been in existence for 11 years but, nope, not in the 2010 Lexus' database. It all depends on what firm is updating the database, in my case they are pretty slack on updates.

Sort of. If you just swap disks to the new version then, NO.

But you can make a hybrid disk using the '06 firmware with the 'XX map data:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...d-nav-dvd.html

I haven't tried it yet myself (still using '06 maps) but I've been waiting for '12 to give it a shot. I haven't wanted to give up the override feature either.

Given the minimal updates, best to at least upgrade every 3 or 4 years.
