1st Gen Auto reliability
I've heard mixed opinions on the IS300 transmissions. I've heard the manuals have problems and the automatics are good. And I've heard the total opposite. What is the truth?

Manuals are weak, but not for the stock power. Otherwise, no real issues. There's a CDD (clutch damping device) that need to be bypassed with a cheap union ($7) to make the clutch feel direct.
Autos are more beefed-up. Probably more reliable than manuals, but nowhere near as fun to drive.
I owned both.

I agree with vlad_a, my auto is cool. Never had any issues besides normal wear and tear, but it's a little weak in appeal....IT'S AUTO.... I love the car even still.
